The prize amount for the Crafoord prize has been increased to 6 million Swedish krona




Presseportal für Hochbegabung The Crafoord Prize is an international scientific price awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences annually according to a rotating scheme. The prize amount of SEK 6 million makes the Crafoord prize one of the world´s largest scientific prizes. This years prize will be announced on 15 January, at 6 am CET. 

Anna-Greta and Holger Crafoord´s Fund was established in 1980 and the first prize was awarded in 1982. The prize is intended to promote international basic research in the disciplines Astronomy and Mathematics, Geosciences, Biosciences (with particular emphasis on ecology) and Polyarthritis (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis). These disciplines are chosen so as to complement those for which the Nobel Prizes are awarded.

This year the prize amount has been increased from SEK 4 million to SEK 6 million. The Crafoord Prize 2015 will be awarded in Biosciences and is announced on 15 January, at 6 am CET.
